Hounslow Council has published the shortlists for the One Hounslow Community Awards 2021.

The shortlists were agreed after some 220 nominations across nine categories were received from residents and organisations right across the Borough. Judging panels across the nine award categories will now decide the winners, to be announced at a ceremony which will take place next Wednesday, 6th October at Hounslow House.

The awards are to celebrate and recognise the work of individuals and organisations across the Borough, including, but not only, in relation to COVID-19.

Councillor Katherine Dunne, Cabinet member for Communities and Climate Emergency thanked all those who nominated their local heroes with special congratulations going to the shortlisted candidates. She said,

“The sheer scale of the contribution made to the Borough by individuals and organisations is stunning and is reflected in nominations. The response from our communities in nominating has been incredible and makes really clear how welcome these awards are after the tough time we've come through together. The One Hounslow Community Awards has been seen as a real chance to recognise, celebrate and thank people for everything they do, especially over a very tough last eighteen months. Across this outstanding Borough people have taken this as a chance to show how much they value those they nominated and use these awards to say thanks."

Councilor Hanif Khan, Cabinet Member for One Hounslow and Transport added,

"We can see from the many nominations just how much that work is valued and appreciated by residents, but the quality of the work is also amazing, as we can see from the shortlists. Everyone named would make a worthy winner, but now it's up to the judging panels, made up of impartial internal and external individuals to make some horribly hard decisions. We know people are already excited about the event, and we're hopeful it will be a night to be remembered as much as it is deserved, by all those nominated and especially those shortlisted."
