Hounslow Council has approved the purchase of a further 10 homes in Hounslow as part of its commitment to build 1,000 new council homes by 2022.
The 10 properties, including a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom homes at High Street Quarter in Hounslow will be purchased from developer, Barratt. These homes, which will be available at social rent, are in addition to the 55 flats already purchased on the same development by the Council earlier in the year.
Cllr Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council said: “We are making progress against our Housing Pledge but have seen a rise in the number of households who need rehousing since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. We need new homes and these additional properties will help us provide housing for people who need it the most, including the vulnerable and those who have been waiting for a long time on our housing register. We want to see that everyone in the borough enjoys a good quality of life, starting with a decent home.”
Hounslow Council’s Housing Pledge includes a commitment to secure 5,000 new affordable homes and build 1,000 new council homes by 2022.
