The massive vaccination event on Bank Holiday Monday, organised by local NHS in partnership with Hounslow Council and supported by England RFU, resulted in 11,000 people getting the jab in just one day.

‘Let’s Tackle Covid’ gave eligible residents the opportunity to have their first dose of the vaccination without delay and was held in response to an increase in the number of cases of coronavirus in the area.

Hounslow’s Leader, Cllr Steve Curran, said: “It was great to see so many people stepping up and getting vaccinated at Twickenham yesterday. Thank you - you are helping to protect yourself, your family and your friends. It was also wonderful to see so many volunteers helping out in true ‘One Hounslow’ spirit. We are grateful to you all for your continuing support.”

Hounslow’s Director of Public Health, Kelly O’Neill, added: “We’re making it as easy as possible for everyone to Step Up For Hounslow. If you have not yet been vaccinated, please do so when you can and please get PCR tested to help stop the spread of the virus. We’re here to help and to answer any questions you may have.”

Last week 1,300 residents were vaccinated in one day at one of the Council’s pop-up vaccination sites at the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, and over 19,000 people have been vaccinated since the Borough’s surge programme started 10 days ago. More pop-up vaccination sites are planned for this week including today (Tuesday 1 June) where you can visit our pop-up clinic at Hounslow High Street (in front of Holy Trinity Church) between 12pm and 8pm. No appointment is necessary.

Surge PCR testing and increased vaccination is happening in Hounslow for approximately another four weeks.
