Cllr Dunne said:

"We share the anger that leads to this protest and our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of Sarah Everard. We understand only too well the concerns and fears of women in relation to our safety and the work that must be done to end violence against us at the hands of men. As a Council we believe our streets should be safe for women and girls to walk. Last week we launched our new ‘Safer Communities Strategy, working with partners including the Met Police to help keep Hounslow safe, and we place very great importance on our Community Safety work. But in practice, with Hounslow still too high in terms of infections and our London ranking for the virus, we cannot encourage attendance when the cost can too easily be the further spread of COVID-19, so we strongly advise people to stay home to reduce the spread and protect lives.”
