Getting access to free ‘rapid tests’ is now even easier for Hounslow residents, with the launch of a new testing site in Feltham today.

Around 4,500 rapid tests, or Lateral Flow Tests, have been carried out over the past three weeks at testing sites such as Hounslow House, Heston Library and Isleworth Library. From today, (Wednesday 27 January), members of the community, who do not have Covid-19 symptoms, can also get rapid tests at Staines Rugby Club in Feltham.
Residents without Covid-19 symptoms, who are 18 years old and over, previously had to book in order to get a rapid test. From this week, they can now simply drop-in to a testing site at whatever time suits them (between 8am and 4pm, every day), or book a particular appointment time if they prefer via the Hounslow Council website at:
Staines Rugby Club is open for pre-booked appointments only at this stage.
Local ‘rapid tests’ take 15 minutes and provide a result within 40 minutes and are available for anyone who still needs to go out for work - key workers, carers, tradespeople and essential retail workers- who needs a quick result and regular testing.
Kelly O’Neill, Hounslow’s Director of Public Health, said: “Unfortunately the rate of infection in the Borough is not reducing at the pace we hoped and need and remains persistently high, which means that there will be sustained pressure on hospital services. Rapid tests are playing a critical role in helping us to identify cases of the virus, even when people don’t have symptoms. Please get tested regularly to help protect yourself and your loved ones.”
In addition to the four testing sites currently in operation, Hounslow Council has also introduced two new mobile testing units which will visit a number of different locations in the borough.
