Statement from Councillor Guy Lambert, Cabinet Member for Highways, Recycling and Companies on the Christmas refuse collections disruption this week
Published: Wednesday, 23rd December 2020
Councillor Guy Lambert, Cabinet Member for Highways, Recycling and Companies said,
"We are aware that despite our best efforts to inform residents about changed collection dates - on bin hangers in the course of recent collections, in Hounslow Matters and via social media posts and emails - some properties and roads have had issues with their Christmas refuse collections. We are working to get this resolved as soon as possible.
"We recognise this is particularly frustrating as we head into the Christmas period when most people will have increased volumes of waste and will want to be able to recycle more than usual. To help residents, we will be adding additional runs for customers who have reported missed rubbish collections to take place over the coming days. We currently have two collection crews carrying out remedial collections.
"We are committed to providing a full service despite these difficulties and the normal challenges of additional waste in the Christmas period. Many of our crews are not only carrying on work but putting in additional shifts over the holiday period. We’re sorry there has been disruption this week but we remain very proud of our team, who have ensured Hounslow could provide a full waste and recycling service throughout this very challenging year, unlike so many other councils.
"Customers can check their revised collection dates by visiting our Christmas collections 2020/21 web page.
"If you have had a missed collection and your road is not listed on our remedial Christmas refuse collections page, please email our recycling mailbox email@example.com or call our call centre on 0208 583 5555 to report this."
