Hands raised for questions

Local issues were discussed as Hounslow Council’s Cabinet members met residents at the third question time event on Thursday 16 February.

Held at the Brentford Free Church, Boston Manor Road, Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council and Cabinet colleagues spoke about council services and other matters following questions from residents in Brentford and other areas across the borough.

Joining Cllr Curran were Councillor Amrit Mann, Deputy Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Theo Dennison [Finance and Citizen Engagement], Councillor Katherine Dunne, [Housing], Councillor Sue Sampson [Community Protection], Councillor Kamaljit Kaur [Adult Social Care and Health Services] and Councillor Tom Bruce [Education and Children’s Services].

Topics included housing, adult social care, the Heathrow expansion proposal and the Watermans development.

MCing the event was Raj Kohli, Hounslow Police’s Borough Commander, who was an expert host for the evening.

Following positive feedback from the previous two question time events in Chiswick and Feltham last year, the aim is to hold these on a regular basis in different venues across the borough.

Councillor Curran, said: “It was great to see a really good turnout of residents who were very interested and passionate about what is going on in the area where they live.
“I enjoy these events and they're a good opportunity to meet with residents face to face to discuss issues and concerns they have.

“There were challenging questions and we will of course look at everything that was asked in more depth so we can follow up as necessary.

“I would like to thank all the residents who gave up their evening to attend and to those who put forward questions.

“I would also like to thank Raj Kohli for doing a great job in chairing the event, it was appreciated.

“We now look forward to the next Cabinet question time event and will make the next date and venue know as soon as possible.”
