Hounslow Council’s new and improved garden waste service is launching in April.

Residents who sign up by 28 February can save 10 per cent on the cost of 25 fortnightly garden waste collections from 3 April 2017 to 31 March 2018 with a break of two weeks over the Christmas period.

The 10 per cent discounted garden waste collection service will cost £45.00.

The cost to residents in receipt of Council Tax Reduction will be £22.50.

Last year, more than 16,000 residents signed up to the service. As a result, the Council collected around 5,000 tonnes of garden waste which has all been turned into compost – that’s enough to fill two Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Councillor Amrit Mann, Deputy Leader of Hounslow Council, said: “Hounslow Council is committed to driving up the borough’s recycling rates to 50 per cent by 2019 but we need residents’ help to do this. We are confident that the new garden waste collection service will inch us forward to achieving the 2019 target.

“We’ve listened to residents’ feedback on last year’s service and made improvements for this year. The garden waste collection service will now be run by Recycle 360, the company wholly owned by Hounslow Council.”

The sign up window for the 2017 garden waste collection runs from now until 31 March.

The 10 per cent discount applies only for sign up until 28 February (one per household only).
