Cllr Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Education, Youth and Children’s Services,

As data reveals diesel cars are the single biggest source of nitrogen oxides pollution at primary schools, extra support will be provided to schools to tackle pollution.

Councillor Tom Bruce said,

"This is an extremely welcome investment in ensuring and improving the long-term health of our children, school staff and our environment. This complements and affirms the ambitious work we are already doing in Hounslow to deliver Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and the School Street Space programmes.

"The new Schools' Pollution Helpdesk initiative will support schools to deliver air quality audits, and to do even more excellent work to tackle obvious risks for the wellbeing of pupils and staff, through reducing pollution which too often still exceeds or nearly exceeds legal levels."
