Small firms in Hounslow have the chance of seizing opportunities to win new business, thanks to a Hounslow Council-backed workshop and business seminar.

A free workshop offering advice on how businesses can tap into the procurement opportunities at this and other local authorities as well as how to become a part of Heathrow’s vast supply chain, takes place on Wednesday 28 September, at the QVC Media and Commerce Centre, Chiswick High Road, Chiswick, W4 5XU.

At the event, which runs from 10am to 12.30pm, businesses will also find out how to brush up their bid writing skills to win new contracts and hear from a local company that benefited directly by attending last year’s Heathrow Business Summit.

This workshop is just one of the events that are taking place ahead of the next Heathrow Business Summit, on Tuesday 8 November, which is now in its 20th year.

The summit, is a chance for local businesses to come face-to-face with the supply chain that comes through Heathrow Airport and surrounding area and be part of the chain.
Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council said: “We’re proud to be a key partner in both supporting the workshop and the summit as it offers another level of support to our local businesses.

“Hopefully, local businesses can use these events to build on the opportunities that are on offer and continue to grow and bring even more prosperity to our borough.”

“Small and medium-sized businesses are perfectly positioned to take advantage of the numerous procurement opportunities but some need this kind of expert advice to make sure they are tailoring their businesses to meet the specific needs that the airport has.”

At the summit, which has a £50 registration fee, local businesses will be awarded at least six appointments with buyers (out of the eight they can pre-selected before the event) and there will be an opportunity to book additional meetings on the day.

Networking will be a major feature of the event, with hundreds of businesses being able to meet with each other, as well as local authorities, Chambers of Commerce’s, UK Trade and Investment and the Heathrow Procurement team present. Free parking is also available to those attending.

Stephen Fry, Chief Executive, Hounslow Chamber of Commerce, said: “Along with our partnership with Hounslow Council and Heathrow Airport, we are finding new ways for local businesses to be confident and informed of bidding for larger contracts.

“These events are a big opportunity to get another foot on the ladder in securing more business and expanding what our local companies have to offer.”
