The school year has just commenced, but it’s already time for parents and carers to start planning ahead for next year – the good news is it can be done easily and quickly online on our school admissions webpage.

The application process for starting primary school or transferring to secondary school, opened on Saturday 1 September 2020. If your child is moving on next year make sure you apply for a good place as soon as possible.

We have fantastic schools in Hounslow providing the highest standard of education for your child. Education spending has been increased over recent years and Hounslow Council has a firm commitment to excellent education, enabling the schools to help children achieve their full potential.

Councillor Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Education, Children’s Services and Youth Services, Hounslow Council, said:

“I am immensely proud of all our schools here in Hounslow. Teachers, school leaders, support staff and governors work incredibly hard to ensure they offer a wide range of educational opportunities for your child and this borough is committed to supporting all our children in getting the best start in life.

“Despite the challenges faced currently due to Covid-19, I would like to assure you that all the schools in our borough have taken all necessary measures to ensure that children have been able to safely return to their learning. These measures will continue as long as is necessary, whether your child will be starting school for the first time in reception or continuing their education in year 7.

“Sadly, we are not able to offer face-to-face support to parents and guardians this year, but I’m delighted that improvements have been made to the online application process, making it easier for you to complete. We are of course available to answer any questions or concerns you might have over the phone or via email.

"I feel extremely fortunate to have attended both primary and secondary school in Hounslow, and I hope that your child has the same wonderful experience that I did!”

If your child is in Year 6 and born between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010, you will need to apply for a secondary school place for them. Applications to transfer to secondary school (Year 7) in September 2021 must be submitted by the 31 October 2020.

If your child is born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017, you will need to apply for a primary school (Reception Class) place for them. The deadline for applications for September 2021 is the 15 January 2021.

Parents or guardians should note that applications received after the deadlines will be considered as late. Late applications will only be processed after on time applications.

Missing the deadline increases the risk of your child not being offered a place at one of your preferred schools – even if they already have a sibling at the school.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the council is unable to offer face-to-face assistance to parents and guardians when making your application. However, the Schools Admissions Team will be able to offer advice and assistance by phone, on 020 8583 2721/2711 or by email admissions@hounslow.gov.uk
