The fund enables charities or community groups impacted by coronavirus to apply for grants of up to £50,000 from the Thriving Communities: Hounslow Response Fund. There will be three rounds of funding available. First round of applications can be made until 9am on 3 August 2020.

Funding is available for projects and services that are delivering support to Hounslow residents most at risk as a result of the outbreak.

Key areas that we are particularly interested in funding are:

  • Digital inclusion
  • Unemployment or underemployment as a result of coronavirus, including support to find employment, develop skills and retrain
  • Mental health
  • Young people
  • Sustainable response to food insecurity

Cllr Katherine Dunne, Cabinet Member for Communities and Climate Emergency, said  “Last month we launched the connections phase of the Thriving Communities: Hounslow Response fund to help alleviate the impact of coronavirus on our local VCSE. We are pleased to have started awarding this funding that is already having an impact on local charities and their clients.

The road ahead is challenging which is why we have launched the recovery phase of this funding to provide local groups and charities the opportunity to reinvent and relaunch services to cater to the ‘new normal’.

Our wonderful voluntary and community sector makes a huge difference to the lives of many of our residents who rely on their services. We continue to work together to support our communities and to build a more resilient society.”

The fund is open to constituted not-for-profit organisations (e.g. registered charity, company limited by guarantee, unincorporated association or club, community interest company, charitable incorporated organisation) and un-constituted groups working to support local people, e.g. a Mutual Aid Group.
