Coalo, the wholly owned maintenance arm of Hounslow Council, is to take over the cleaning contract for 30 schools within the borough from 1 September.  It is currently operated by Nviro who will continue with their standard contract until 31 August.

The change over of companies will be totally seamless as the same staff will be employed by Coalo with the only obvious difference being the uniforms worn and the livery on the vehicles.

Aidan Heed, Operations Director of Coalo said: "We have written to every school head to explain the reasons for the changes and introduce Coalo to them.  We have made it clear that our team will not only carry out all previous cleaning services, we will also be offering a number of new services as part of our contract.  These will include window cleaning, on the spot basic repairs, graffiti removal and ground maintenance.

"In addition to my explanatory letter, we are also inviting a senior staff member of every school to join our webinar so we can answer any immediate queries and put their minds at rest that our service will be even better that before. As it stands, there will be 30 schools within our contract, but we will be inviting other schools to join us and take advantage of the superior service we will now be offering."

Cllr Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council added: "I am delighted Coalo has been awarded this contract.  They have already proved themselves to be expert at all areas of maintenance for our current council properties since they were set up as a wholly owned council organisation. In 2019, they were awarded a prestigious Gold Award by RoSPA for their outstanding health and safety work within council-owned estates."
