Councillor Hanif Khan, Cabinet member for Hounslow Council

Cllr Hanif Khan, Cabinet Member for Transport and One Hounslow said: “In light of reports of a growing number of cyclists using footpaths, I want to stress that footpaths cannot be used for cycling.

“The cycling upsurge we’ve seen in recent weeks is very welcome and actively encouraged by the Council, but we have a responsibility to make sure the borough remains a safe place for pedestrians too.

“I urge all cyclists to do their bit to keep themselves and others safe. Footpaths can only be used for cycling when they are marked for shared use. Otherwise, cyclists must stay on the cycle path and road network to avoid putting pedestrians in harm’s way.”
