Think Well, a new space designed to support young people across Hounslow, opens its doors for the first time on Friday, 11 September.
The hub opens to the public following the launch event on Wednesday, 9 September, where four young people shared the challenges young people face, and the need for a trusted and supportive environment. It will be free to access and is designed to complement existing services by providing early support in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Think Well will be based at Beavers Children’s Centre, TW4 7NW, and will be open:
- Mondays: 4pm – 8pm
- Wednesdays: 4pm – 8pm
- Fridays: 3pm – 9pm
Young people will be able to access wellbeing support and connect with others in a safe, welcoming and non-clinical space that promotes positive mental health and builds confidence.
The launch follows extensive engagement with young people across the borough. Over 100 young people across six secondary schools have contributed directly to the design and delivery of the group activities. Their ideas have helped shape everything from the activities and themed sessions on offer, to the look and feel of the space.
A key feature of the hub will be its partnerships with local community and voluntary sector organisations, including the NHS, HYPE, HYCS and more, which will deliver a variety of creative, physical, social and wellbeing-focused activities. The Council is keen to work with organisations that can help create engaging opportunities for young people and support positive mental health outcomes.
Councillor Madeeha Asim Cabinet Member for Children and Young Futures, at Hounslow Council said: “Through our conversations with young people across Hounslow, we heard a clear message, they want support that is accessible, welcoming and designed around their needs. Think Well is a direct response to that feedback. It will provide a safe, free and non-clinical space where young people can build confidence, make connections, take part in activities and access support before challenges escalate into crisis, giving every young person in Hounslow the best start in life.”
