27 groups will benefit from the Council’s Thriving Communities Fund, which supports local community groups and charities to thrive.
This week, Hounslow Council has awarded £17,000 to 27 local community groups in the borough. The fund supports community-led projects that help residents connect, improve their wellbeing, and create stronger, more resilient communities across Hounslow.
The funding was awarded to a range of community groups, which aims to:
- Improve physical and mental wellbeing.
- Reduce social isolation and loneliness.
- Build social connections and strengthen community cohesion.
Some of the groups who received funding include:
- Creative Mile CIC to deliver creative workshops for older residents.
- Polish Clan Association for a Polish Women's Wellbeing Hub.
- Friends of Northcote Nature Reserve for Nature Reserve Tools and Kit.
Councillor Ajmer Grewal, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Safety at Hounslow Council, said:
“Many of the groups receiving funding are resident and volunteer led organisations that play a vital role in bringing people together. Through community days, street parties and local events, they help create stronger neighbourhoods, lasting connections and a greater sense of belonging.
“This investment reflects the Council’s commitment to ensuring every community has the opportunities it needs to flourish, so that no one is left behind.”
Julian Joyce, who is treasurer of Friends of Isleworth Station, received funding for its mosaic at Isleworth station, he said:
“We wanted to brighten up Isleworth Station with a planter full of flowers and also involve the local community in designing an orchard-themed mosaic. Our grant from Thriving Communities enabled us not only to buy our plants but also to pay for the materials that went towards making our mosaic a reality.”
Applications for Small Grant Round Two are now open and will close on Monday 14 September.
