Hounslow Council has granted a 125-year lease of the De Brome Building in Feltham to West Thames College (WTC), commencing in the new academic year, September 2026.
The decision further solidifies the presence of WTC in Feltham and supports the Council’s strategic objectives for inclusive growth, regeneration, and improved life-chances in the area.
Securing long term further education provision at the De Brome Building also strengthens the borough’s skills pipeline with the former Feltham Skills and Logistics Centre accustomed to delivering vocational courses from construction and car maintenance to rail track engineering, supporting young people and adult learners into employment.
Commenting on the long-term lease, Marta Gajewska, CEO and Principal at West Thames College, said:
“This long-term commitment to Feltham marks an exciting new chapter for West Thames College. It enables us to invest in modern facilities, expand opportunities for young people and adult learners, and continue working closely with employers to develop the skilled workforce they need. Through our employer partnerships and industry engagement, we are creating clear pathways into employment and supporting the continued growth of the local economy."
Council Leader Shantanu Rajawat, added:
“The facility will continue to play a critical role in providing further education pathways for residents in Feltham and across the wider borough, including learners from disadvantaged and underrepresented groups.
“The proposal is expected to deliver positive equalities outcomes by improving progression opportunities and enhancing access to skills, training, and employment for local communities. This chimes directly with the Council’s objectives for a thriving, resilient local economy.”
The building itself occupies the site of the former De Brome Secondary Modern School - a boys' school that operated in the area before later transitioning into an educational and vocational facility (often known as the Feltham Skills and Logistics Centre).
