This week Hounslow Council’s Cabinet outlined a corporate plan that will ensure every resident can thrive and feel proud to call Hounslow their home.
The Leader of Council, Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, unveiled the Council’s vision for the next four years at the Council’s Cabinet meeting on Tuesday 14 July, cementing his pledge for a fairer future for every Hounslow resident.
The strategy sets how the Council will tackle inequality, support children and young people, invest in neighbourhoods and town centres, and create opportunities for residents at every stage of life.
The plan also commits the Council to becoming a more responsive council — working across services and with partners, making services easier to access and focusing on the outcomes that matter most to residents. This plan also sets out working alongside residents and partners to deliver a fairer future for all.
Key priorities for the next four years include:
Supporting residents to thrive
Supporting residents at every stage of life the plan focuses on early childhood, learning, work opportunities and community life. Together, these priorities will reduce inequality, improve life chances and help more residents live healthy, fulfilling and successful lives. This includes:

Newborn library cards and free books for under-fives.

An Adult Learning and Skills programme for more than 1,000 residents.
Investing in homes, neighbourhoods and communities
The plan sets out a vision for thriving neighbourhoods and town centres, inclusive growth. This involves:

Deliver Pride in Place investment across shopping parades and town centres.

Develop the Council’s Housing Delivery Plan including major regeneration at Charlton House and Convent Way.

Create a dedicated Anti-Social Behaviour Housing team and improve standards across the private housing sector.

Provide a 24-hour response to fly-tipping and offensive graffiti.
Improving connections and opportunity
The plan outlines how connectivity is a key enabler of opportunity, which includes:

Deliver crossing, bus stop, safety and pavement improvement programmes to make journeys easier.

Progress major rail improvements such as West London Orbital.
Commenting on the plan, The Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, said:
Home to 300,000 people, speaking more than 190 languages, Hounslow is a wonderfully diverse and vibrant borough that has so much potential.
We are proud of our strong track record so far, but we know there is more to do. Our ambition is for Hounslow to build a borough where every neighbourhood feels cared for, every community sees itself in our future, and no one is left behind.
Tackling inequality will be the Council plan’s ‘guiding star’: a commitment is to make Hounslow a fairer, more equal borough by acting on the causes of inequality, not only their symptoms.

As a Council, our work touches every aspect of life in Hounslow. We support those who need help, promote local jobs, connect communities and keep the borough moving. At a time when issues such as housing affordability, health inequalities and economic pressures are increasingly complex, we aim to be a responsive Council that adapts to residents’ everyday needs.
The plan was endorsed at the Council’s Cabinet meeting on Tuesday 14 July and is due to be considered at the Council’s Borough Council Meeting on Tuesday 21 July.
