Ahead of the London Borough of Hounslow’s Carer Awards Ceremony on Friday 20 November 2026
Residents are being asked to nominate the borough’s outstanding unpaid carers and professionals who have gone above and beyond to support unpaid carers.
There are nine distinct categories under which nominations can be made from Inspirational Carer of the Year to sector specific awards; Health, Social Care etc.
The awards ceremony follows Carers Rights Day on 19 November, an annual nationwide event dedicated to raising awareness about the rights, challenges, and contributions of unpaid carers who help care for a family member or friend.
An information event will also be held on Saturday 21 November on the Ground Floor of Hounslow House from 10.30am-3pm where unpaid carers can learn about their rights and how to overcome the day-to-day challenges of their caring role in line with the theme: Know Your rights, Use Your Rights.
Both events will serve to raise awareness of the 19,000+ unpaid carers in Hounslow, encouraging them to come forward, engage with the support available to them, and learn about their legal rights as unpaid carers.
Commenting on the nominations, Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care, Councillor Lily Bath said:
“This is a chance to champion unpaid carers in Hounslow. It’s an evening of celebration but also of solidarity because carers will have the opportunity to learn about their rights so they can receive the support they are entitled to. Hounslow is an established Carer Friendly Community from our regular Carer Cafes to a Carers Service committed to supporting Hounslow’s unpaid carers with advice, guidance and support.”
Hounslow Council provides support for unpaid carers through Carers Assessments, Carers Emergency Cards, Carers Direct Payments, Short Breaks and Hounslow Carers Service.
The last day for all nominations is Sunday, 30 August 2026.
