In response to complaints and a petition submitted to Hounslow Council from residents of New Road, Bedfont, regarding obstructive and indiscriminate parking occurring in the road, which is reportedly being caused following the completion and occupation of nearby residential developments. These complaints have resulted in some residents requesting the introduction of a controlled parking zone (CPZ).
In response to these complaints, the Council are now commencing a preliminary consultation with residents of New Road and neighbouring roads, namely Bethany Waye, Dorchester Drive, Nos 130-136 (evens) Hatton Road and Nos 376-432 (evens) Staines Road, to determine whether there is wider support for the introduction of parking controls.
There is an online questionnaire asking residents and businesses whether they would support the introduction of a CPZ and, if so, what operational days and hours they would prefer. In addition, the Council are also consulting residents and businesses as to whether there is support for the introduction of dedicated ‘car club’ and ‘electric vehicle charging point’ parking bays. Further details on these types of parking bays is included in the attached information sheets.
This consultation is an opportunity for you to have your say and to make comments about the proposal and your views will determine whether the CPZ will progress to the next stage of consultation or not. I would therefore strongly encourage you to respond to the questionnaire even if you do not experience any parking difficulties and/or are not in favour of a CPZ.
Before completing the questionnaire, please review the information provided, on how a CPZ works and the costs involved. Once you are satisfied you have sufficient information, I would be grateful if you would return the completed questionnaire by Friday, 2 March 2018.
The results of the consultation will be reported to your local ward councillors and you will be notified in writing of the outcome of the consultation and any future action. If the scheme is progressed, officers will produce a detailed design for the CPZ scheme and undertake further consultation with residents and businesses.
Should you have any queries or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact Kishan Kansara.
