Switching energy suppliers
Ofgem (The Office of Gas and Electricity Markets – which is a non-ministerial government department and an independent National Regulatory Authority) have approved many online price comparison sites that are a good place to look when comparing energy tariffs and supplier deals.
These independent websites operate in accordance with Ofgem’s code of practice, the 'Confidence Code'.
- Money Supermarket
- Quotezone
- The Energy Shop
- Simply Switch -
- My Utility Genius
- Switch Gas and Electric
- Energylinx
- Unravel It
- Energy Helpline
- Compare the Market
Our ‘Better Homes, Better Health’ scheme may be able to provide advice to help find out the best electricity tariff / arrangement for your property (if you meet the eligible criteria) – you can make a self-referral for a home visit by a trained energy advisor.
To make sure you get the best deal, you’ll need to know:
- The name of your current supplier.
- The name of your current tariff, usually found on your bill.
- The amount of energy you use.
- How you currently pay, and would like to pay with a new supplier.
- Your postcode.
