We've now moved to Hounslow House

After a little over two years of building works, the council has said goodbye to the Civic Centre in Lampton Road and moved to a new, purpose-built office by Bell Square, on the junction of Bath Road and Lampton Road, from Monday 15 April 2019.

Hounslow House, in the heart of the town centre, is a smaller, modern and more energy-efficient building with a community focus which allows us to work more effectively for the borough’s residents.

Hounslow Library has also moved to the new building, bringing it back to the town centre, along with our health (Hounslow Clinical Commissioning Group – CCG) and police partners. New Adult Education classrooms are also available at the new site.

A new Civic Suite on the sixth floor includes the more modern and flexible Council Chamber, which can also be used as community or event space.

The Civic Centre was no longer fit for purpose and had high running costs, so downsizing to a smaller building will also save money in the long term, as well as allowing the site to be used for housing for local residents.

Building a new community

Now that staff and services have moved to Hounslow House, from the Civic Centre site, which is now closed, will be redeveloped for much-needed housing, both private and social, to buy or to rent.

The first phase of the Notting Hill Genesis housing development has already been built just in front of the old Civic Centre, and residents started moving in from December 2018. Of the entire scheme of more than 940 units, 50 per cent will be social housing at affordable rents.

Putting customers at the heart of what we do

Although Hounslow House is smaller than the Civic Centre, the focus is very much on the people we serve, with new customer service desks, more self-service terminals, an online check-in and dedicated Business Visitors desk, and floorwalkers to guide people to where they need to go.
