What is the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment

The Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 placed a duty on Local Authorities and the corresponding local NHS Trusts to set out the health needs of their local population, known as a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA).

In Hounslow, JSNA related material can be accessed through our Hounslow Data Hub website.

The Hounslow Data Hub provides data, intelligence and insight to allow us to better understand the borough.

It supports commissioning and health planning to:

  • Reduce health inequalities in the borough
  • Assess current and future health care and wellbeing needs of the local population
  • Improve service access and delivery

The Hounslow Data Hub brings together the factors that impact on the health and well-being of our communities. These include wider, core determinants of health, employment, education, housing, the environment, relationships, equalities, diversity & inclusion and health & care services.

We produce three, complementary products:

  • Hounslow Snapshot – wide range of high-level overviews
  • Hounslow Insight – an assessment of a specific topic
  • Deep Dive Report – more detailed analyses of a topic.
