Members’ Ethical Standards

The Council has an Audit and Governance Committee which is responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of the council's code of conduct amongst local councillors and others involved in decision-making by the local authority.

The Committee is responsible for considering complaints if a councillor may have breached the code of conduct.

Any recently published notices can be downloaded from this page.

What this means to you

If you want to complain about the conduct of a councillor you must submit your complaint to the Council’s Monitoring Officer as this address:

Head of Corporate Governance and Monitoring Officer
Hounslow House
7 Bath Road
Hounslow
Middlesex
TW3 3EB

The committee can only deal with complaints about the behaviour of a councillor.

Please note: It will not deal with complaints about things that are not covered by the members’ code of conduct.

If you make a complaint to the Monitoring Officer it must be about why you think a councillor has not followed the code of conduct. Please note that anonymous complaints are normally considered.

For complaints on other matters, please visit our complaint web pages.
