Guidance for completing your HMO application

Documentation

You will need some or all of the following information: 

  • Applicant details 
  • Licence holder details 
  • Mortgage company details
  • Freeholder/leaseholder details
  • Details of other interested parties
  • Contact details for all parties
  • Details of any accreditation schemes and membership number
  • Details of management company (if applicable)
  • Details of any criminal or civil offences
  • Contact numbers and addresses of all interested parties, licence holder and owners 
  • Limited company details address, phone numbers and company registration number  


Where available, some or all of the following documents should be scanned and ready for uploading before you start your application:

  • Tenancy agreement/s
  • Management contracts
  • A sketch plan for the property
  • A current valid Domestic Installation Periodic Report from a competent electrician
  • A Gas Safety Record Certificate provided by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
  • BS5839 test reports relating to the fire detection system (if installed)
  • BS5266 test reports relating to the emergency lighting system (if installed)
  • Certification of fire protection measures
  • Building regulation completion certificate/s
  • Accredited Landlord Certificate (if a member )


Any outstanding documents not available when completing the application form must be provided if requested by the council.
