My Week by Cllr. Steve Curran

29 May - 2 June

Monday 29 May

I had a busy weekend, let’s just say, there’s an election coming up!

I hope everyone has enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend. Thanks as always go to all council staff, emergency services and all those who work over the public holiday.

Tuesday 30 May

This morning I had my regular one to one meeting with our Chief Executive Mary Harpley before we hosted the weekly Leaders meeting with heads of services from across the council.

Later I met with senior officers to discuss the progress of a greenbelt review.

The rest of the day saw me host  various one to one meetings with council staff.

Wednesday 31 May

Today, I met with representatives of the Environment Trust to talk about developments across the borough.

I then attended a meeting with senior officers and representatives of the Chiswick Rugby Football Club, who are based at Dukes Meadows. We fully support their application for development of the club house and sport facilities, which they have put to the RFU [Rugby Football Union].

I then spent time catching up with messages and casework.

Thursday 1 June

This morning I attended the West London on Location Conference along with Councillor Julian Bell, Leader of Ealing Council. On the agenda was the potential impact of a third runway at Heathrow Airport, should it go ahead,  on the regeneration of our boroughs and west London as a whole.

Later I met with representatives of the London Wildlife Trust to talk about the ongoing development of the Gunnersbury Triangle, a local nature reserve.

I finished the day with a series of meetings in the afternoon.

Friday 2 June

I have a day out of the office today and will be off to see some cricket at Lords.

The weather has been nice this week, so hopefully that will continue into the weekend. I must admit, I will be nervous on Saturday, as the British & Irish Lions rugby team kick off against the NZ Provincial Barbarians, good luck to them!

It is under a week to go now to the General Election, which takes place this coming Thursday [8 June].

Your vote is important, it does count and you can get all the information you need by visiting our website.

Have a great weekend!
