Community Projects - Decisions

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is the primary mechanism for collecting contributions from development across the Borough. Introduced in 2015, CIL is a levy on new buildings and extensions used to fund infrastructure delivery. The purpose of CIL is to address funding gaps for infrastructure needed to support development and growth in Hounslow.

Of CIL monies collected, 85% is used to fund strategic infrastructure projects minus an administration fee of 5%.

15% of CIL funds are used to fund local community projects such as improvements to parks and open spaces, supporting community events or expansion of children's, youth, or senior outreach programs. Local community members, neighbourhood groups, and businesses can nominate their projects, or suggest projects that they would like to see delivered in their neighbourhood.

If you would like to nominate projects for CIL funding, please visit the links below for more information about how to submit an application.

CIL funding - Spacehive

CIL funding is now available through the Spacehive crowd funding platform. Spacehive gives community groups a platform to gain local support for their project. All projects submitted to the Spacehive platform will have the opportunity to be considered for CIL funding, along with other sources of local and regional funding and community grants.

Spacehive is a great way to raise awareness about local projects and gain community buy-in and excitement.

Visit our Hounslow Spacehive page to find out more.
