Celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III and the Queen Consort

Bring the celebrations to your street

Street parties and play streets are a great way to gather with your community and meet new people in a fun way where everyone can join in. It’s a great British tradition which not only allows a safe environment for children to play in but brings people of all ages and backgrounds together to share friendship, food and fun together.

In honour of the historic event, the Council is helping residents and community groups to hold their own street parties by waiving the usual fees to close their roads off to motor vehicle traffic during the bank holiday weekend (Saturday 6 May, Sunday 7 May or Monday 8 May).

The deadline to apply for street party and road closure applications as well as Coronation Play Street applications have now passed.
