It is our duty to help to prevent you becoming homeless. If you are homeless or at risk of homelessness you should email the housing team immediately and we will work with you to assist you where we can.
If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness within the next 56 days, we have to assess whether you are entitled to help.
This includes whether you have the right to reside in the UK and are entitled to access public funds. As part of this assessment we ask you to provide identification documents which allow us to determine your immigration status in the UK.
If you are homeless and do not have access to public funds, we will try to put you in touch with other services that may be able to help you.
If you are threatened with homelessness within 56 days, we have a duty to try to prevent you from becoming homeless. If you are actually homeless, we may have a duty to arrange accommodation for you while we try to find alternative accommodation to bring your homelessness to an end. We assess each case individually and if we are not going to provide you with accommodation, we will explain the reasons why.
If you become homeless but do not have a local connection to Hounslow, we may refer you to the area where you do have a local connection. This will be discussed with you along with giving you a written decision explaining the reasons.
