Summer of Culture in Hounslow returned for the third year in a row.
The borough immersed itself in a vibrant celebration of arts, culture and community at 2024’s Summer of Culture, which ran from June to September. We were thrilled to share a diverse and exciting line-up of events which captivated audiences of all ages. Over 150,000 people attended the 120 events that took place in over 50 locations across the whole borough.
From enchanting outdoor performances to captivating storytelling sessions, from film screenings in parks to self-guided creative tours exploring the town centres or discovering hidden gems, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you were a seasoned culture enthusiast or simply looking for a way to soak up the summer atmosphere, Summer of Culture offered experiences that inspired, entertained and connected.
A snapshot of what our community enjoyed during the Summer of Culture 2024:
Outdoor Events
The magic of live performances by national and international artists in unusual venues. From music concerts to dance showcases, the outdoor events programme invited everyone to enjoy the beauty of open-air entertainment.
Hounslow’s Storytelling Festival
Imagination roamed free as talented storytellers spun stories that transported listeners to far-off lands and told tales of our town centres. Audiences were given back their own stories in poetry-form from the creative minds of local poets. Hounslow’s Storytelling Festival ignited imaginations and left attendees spellbound.
Films on the Green
Visitors grabbed blankets, packed picnics and attended film screenings in Hounslow’s parks over the summer. From timeless classics to contemporary gems, Films on the Green offered a cinematic experience across the borough for all to enjoy.
Tours and Trails
History buffs and simply curious explorers alike embarked on a journey of discovery with self-guided tours of Brentford, Chiswick, Feltham and Hounslow as they immersed themselves in the rich tapestry of our local areas and communities.
Open House
In September, we invited our community to step inside some of the most intriguing and architecturally significant buildings in the borough through Open House 2024. Visitors were able to explore hidden gems, discover the stories behind the facades and gain a new perspective on our local history and culture.
