The following are covered by our enforcement team. They carry out routine inspections of trade premises and investigate complaints, advising traders and consumers, prosecuting in the most extreme cases.
Weights and Measures- Quantity of goods supplied and accuracy of Weights & Measures equipment.
Prices- Price marking of goods and misleading pricing.
Product safety- safety of all consumer goods, including: toys, electrical items, cosmetics, upholstered furniture, pushchairs, personal protective equipment, etc.
Fair trading- trade descriptions, estate agents, property misdescriptions, hallmarking
Consumer credit- advertising, agreements
Enterprise Act-undertakings from rogue builders
Road Traffic- overloaded lorries, unroadworthy cars
Under age sales- alcohol, cigarettes, knives, fireworks, spray paint, videos, etc.
Counterfeiting- Trade marks, copyright
Doorstep sales- eg cowboy builders
