Hounslow Council

Major incident response

With 24 hours a day and 7 days a week emergency call-out arrangements, trained staff and a dedicated emergency control centre, we can respond quickly to any major emergency or disaster happening within or adjacent to the borough.

A liaison officer will be sent to the scene to work directly with the other emergency services and an emergency management team will co-ordinate our overall response from the emergency control centre. Emergency rest centres can be opened for large numbers of evacuees and shelter, refreshments and emergency bedding provided. Housing services, welfare services, emergency catering, and emergency transport may also be provided to support people in distress as a result of an emergency.

Within the council our teams co-ordinate all departments from street clearance to counselling services. Working with assistance from the voluntary agencies and faith organisations, our aim is to make sure that the needs of the community are identified and disruption to normal life is minimised.
