Walking to school is healthy and free, and it also means that children arrive at school awake and ready to start learning.
Unfortunately, every September there is a big rise in the number of child accidents, particularly amongst year 7 boys. In many cases this is because they are now independently walking to secondary school but, because they were driven each day to primary school, they may not have developed the necessary awareness to make this journey safely.
