Hounslow Council backed a motion on 30 April 2013 to ban spitting in public places in the borough.
However, to do this, the council needs to introduce a by-law which will need government approval.
As part of this process, we must demonstrate there is widespread public support among local residents in Hounslow for the by-law against spitting, which is why we have created a petition.
So, if you are a Hounslow resident and would like to see the council introduce a ban on public spitting (which could result in a fine if caught), you can either sign the online petition below, or you can sign a paper copy at the civic centre in Lampton Road in Hounslow or in any of the borough libraries.
The petition is open until Wednesday 18 December 2013.
