Hounslow's Residents' Panel

The London Borough of Hounslow’s Residents’ Panel has been running since 2003. The purpose of the panel is to provide a co-ordinated and cost-effective approach to public consultation. The panel is made up of 2000 Hounslow residents, who are selected at random and who have agreed to take part in up to 4 surveys a year, as well as in some focus group sessions.

What is a Residents' Panel?

A Residents’ Panel is a sample of residents that is recruited and maintained over a period of years. The members of the panel agree to take part in a number of surveys canvassing their views on a range of different topics. Due to the fact that the panel members have agreed to take part, response rates to surveys are generally very good.

The panel offers a means of consultation with residents through which the Council can ascertain how good its services are. Survey results help the Council to plan for future improvements to those service areas which are not found to be doing well.
