Out of hours emergencies

Our web pages provide a lot of information to help you. The out of hours service is designed for emergencies only. Before you contact us, are you sure that :

• Your problem cannot be dealt with during normal office hours

• That you cannot make arrangements in the meantime

• If you can wait till the morning please email is using the general enquiry e-form link above

When telephoning, please remember that your call may prevent another call getting through

• Be clear

• Have all the information to hand

• Be prepared to provide a contact number so that we can get back to you

Out of hours:

• Mon to Thu – 5pm to 8am

• Fri 4.45pm through to Mon 8am

The following types of call are taken and passed to a duty officer:

• Collapsed or unsafe buildings or structures

• Emergency repairs to council owned property

• General incidents or emergencies

• Homelessness

• Incidents in schools, libraries, leisure centres, parks, playgrounds or council halls

• Media requesting a council spokesperson

• Noise nuisance

• Social services emergencies

• Street and pavement issues such as traffic lights, streetlights, signs and blocked drains

• Traffic accidents

• Urgent death certificates

If your call is not considered an emergency you may be asked to contact us again during office hours.
