Hounslow Council has been getting behind the Dry January campaign once again as part of encouraging people to get fit and healthy in 2017.
Whether joining up to the Dry January campaign is for improving your health in general, looking to lose weight or because you have concerns about the amount of alcohol you drink, help and support is at hand throughout the borough.
Health advisors from One You Hounslow were at the Civic Centre, Hounslow, and at the ASDA superstore in Feltham this week to encourage residents to “Bid the booze goodbye and keep January Dry.”
Advice was given to people on reducing their alcohol intake and how they can access further information to help them do this via a free mobile app.
There was an opportunity to find out how you can sign up directly and liaise online with a dedicated health advisor for support generally on a healthy lifestyle and exercise.
The event is one of many taking place across the borough, including clinics where advice was also given out to help residents to stop smoking.
Councillor Corinna Smart, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Leisure, Hounslow Council, said: “It’s the start of a new year and a great time to make a fresh start on getting fitter and healthier.
“These campaigns are important to support as they give people the reassurance that there is help out there if they have a problem or they just simply want to get advice on being healthier in general. The support is out there and the end result will be a happier, healthier year ahead.”
