Visitors to the Civic Centre on Monday will be able to find out about a project that sees adults with learning disabilities growing fresh produce.
The Community Access Allotment at Inwood Park gives 15 adults with learning disabilities the chance to take part in gardening as well as learn horticultural skills.
Cllr Gurmail Lal, cabinet member for adult social care at the council, said: “Not only does this help the service users learn news skills, but it provides a way for them to engage with other people in new ways, and helps develop important social skills.”
The project will be displaying examples of the produce grown on the allotment at the Civic Centre on Monday, 28 May, from 10:30am – 2:30pm, and there will be a small number of plants to give away in return for a small donation.
