Cllr Pritam Grewal has been elected the new Mayor of Hounslow, following last night’s meeting of the Borough Council (Tuesday 15 May). Cllr Grewal, who represents Hounslow Central, replaces the outgoing Mayor Cllr Amrit Mann.
The new Deputy Mayor is Cllr Mindu Bains, who has represented the Isleworth ward since 2006.

Speaking at the meeting, Cllr Grewal said: “I would like to thank the outgoing Mayor Cllr Amrit Mann, his sister Simrit the Mayoress, and the outgoing Deputy Mayor Cllr Ajmer Grewal, for their hard work over the past year. I’d also like to thank Cllr Mindu Bains, for accepting the role as my Deputy Mayor for the year ahead.
“I am very happy and proud to be elected as Mayor in what we all know will be a very important and exciting year. Along with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, there are many events going on across the borough this summer, and I look forward to attending as many of them as possible and enjoying Hounslow’s Summer of Celebration.
“The London Borough of Hounslow is a shining example of community cohesion, and in my Mayoral year I will try to bring people together and engage with all communities and organisations to develop and enhance the borough.
“It’s going to be a very busy year and I’m looking forward to it!”
As part of his role as the borough’s first citizen, the Mayor raises money throughout the year for chosen charities. This year, the two chosen charities are The Mulberry Centre in Isleworth, which supports anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer, including patients, family members and friends, and the Feltham Bees, a pan-disability football club for players aged 5 – 50, for girls, boys, men and women.
