An information event for adults with physical and sensory disabilities and neurological conditions will take place at Hounslow’s Civic Centre on Friday 11 September.
There will be a wide variety of information stalls on the day, with representatives from the council and voluntary sector, as well as other organisations of interest to disabled people, on hand to give advice.
We are keen to talk to as many disable adults as possible, so please come and tell us what you want from services in Hounslow.
You will also be able to join in taster exercise sessions, including chair-based exercise, boccia (a traditional recreational sport for athletes who require a wheelchair because of physical disability) and bowls.
You can also attend awareness sessions to find out more about Managing MS, Stroke Awareness, Beating the Pain Barrier in Arthritis, and Visual Awareness.
Cllr Pamela Fisher, Hounslow Council’s lead member for adult social services and health, will be opening the event. She said:
“This is a great chance for people to come along and see exactly what is available to them. There is often far more out there than people think.
“I am looking forward to opening the event and meeting those who come along.”
The event will also mark the launch of our Transformation and Personalisation agenda, ‘Putting People First’, and introduce a new way of delivering adult social care services, giving you the choice and control to shape the services you need.
The day will be held in partnership with the council, Disability Network Hounslow, Hounslow Neurological Partnership, Independent Activities Project Middlesex Association for the Blind and NHS Hounslow.
The event will be held in the Ground Floor Annex of the Civic Centre between 11am - 3pm.
Lunch and refreshments will be available.
