Local Implementation Plan

Each London borough must have a plan which sets out how it will develop its transport network to support the Mayor of London in achieving his transport objectives for the capital.

This plan is known as the Local Implementation Plan (LIP).

Following the publication of the new Mayor of London's transport strategy in May 2010, we drafted a new twenty year transport strategy - the Hounslow Local Implementation Plan for Transport (2011-2031). The document was formally approved in January 2012.

The strategy is made up of three sections:

1. Borough transport objectives
Sets out the high level objectives we are seeking to achieve as the transport infrastructure is developed. It also summarises a number of initiatives currently being progressed regionally by Transport for London or by the national government that will impact on the council’s ability to achieve these objectives.

2. Delivery plan
Sets out in more detail how we propose to develop our transport infrastructure, or deliver training or promotional schemes, to achieve these objectives. This includes an indicative ‘Programme of Investment’, setting out the available (or indicative) funding for the borough to implement these schemes. Transport schemes are often inherently complicated to implement and this indicative programme will change over time.

3. Performance monitoring plan
Sets out a range of indicators that we will be monitoring to see whether we are moving towards achieving the borough transport objectives.
