You can qualify automatically for the Blue Badge parking scheme if:
You receive the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance or have a mobility finance vehicle
You are registered blind (not partially sighted)
You receive war pensioners mobility supplement
You may still apply for a badge under discretionary rules if:
You have a permanent and substantial disability which affects your mobility and means you have considerable difficulty in walking.
In this case we will contact your GP on your behalf to verify your level of disability. The inability to walk must be permanent, the disability must be of a physical nature and the entitlement is related only to your inability to walk. Considerations such as difficulty in carrying parcels/shopping are not taken into account.
Organisations caring for disabled people meeting the above criteria may be able to get a badge, but this is entirely at our discretion.
Children under two years of age do not qualify for a badge because they would not normally be expected to be able to walk independently.
People suffering from mental health problems, behavioural problems, learning difficulties, hearing impairments, epilepsy or temporary conditions do not qualify for a badge.
