Hounslow Council

Key workers

If you live or work in the Hounslow borough, there are housing initiatives aimed at you.

Below-market rental homes and low cost home ownership schemes are available for everyone on a moderate income, who lives or works in the borough of Hounslow.

This website allows you to register for all key worker and shared ownership schemes in the borough. Once you’ve registered, you’ll automatically receive details on all the developments in the borough as they become available.

The term key worker means people in areas of employment that are recognised to have difficulty buying a home. Individual councils set the definitions of who key workers are differently. In Hounslow, key workers means everyone who lives or works in the borough of Hounslow on a moderate income, which is everyone on a household income of less than approximately £35,000.

There are some schemes that meet the government's definition of key worker groups. Details of these schemes and the eligibility criteria are available through the Housing Options website.

We are working in partnership with Housing Options, the gateway for all affordable housing in London and is the one stop shop for all east, north, and west London boroughs. It allows public sector tenants, keyworkers and first-time buyers further opportunities to own a home of their own. The aim is to provide a one-stop shop of affordable home ownership products.
