The London Borough of Hounslow is considering introducing an additional licensing scheme for shared houses, also known as Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs).
Under the Housing Act 2004, the council set up a licensing scheme covering Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs), of a certain size and occupancy. The scheme ensures that every landlord/manager is responsible and able to ensure the health and safety of their occupants.
However, the council is keen to extend the HMO licensing to two story buildings that are occupied by five or more persons in one Household.
