The Brentford Area Action Plan (BAAP) is one of the documents for planning the future development of the borough and a priority in the council's Local Development Framework (LDF).
It contains objectives and policies which seek to provide a spatial strategy for the continued regeneration of the Brentford area.
This includes policies specific to the town centre, Great West Road, Brentford's river and canal network, as well as proposals for development sites.
There are also generic policies for the area of plan coverage on sustainable development, urban design, delivering sustainable access and the provision of large-scale arts, cultural, entertainment and leisure facilities.
The plan was submitted to the Secretary of State on 20 July 2007 and subject to a six week period of consultation until 30 August 2007. A further consultation took place on a number of site allocation representations in November/ December 2007.
A pre-examination meeting was held on 13 February 2008, following which an agenda was published for the examination of the BAAP. The examination hearings took place between 22 April and 2 May 2008. We submitted a consolidated schedule of proposed minor changes to the BAAP to the inspector following the close of the examination hearings. This document is available to download from this page.
The inspector's report on the examination was received on 31 October 2008. The inspector found the Brentford Area Action Plan to be 'sound' subject to a number of binding recommendations. The report and the inspector's covering letter are available to download from this page.
Accordingly, the DPD will be formally adopted by the council as soon as reasonably practicable. It will now be used when making decisions on relevant planning applications. The council's official view on the status of the BAAP prior to adoption can be downloaded from this page.
A final version of the DPD will be prepared for adoption.
