Article 3 of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 provides for certain developments to be carried out without the need for planning permission.
An Article 3 direction is a condition issued as part of a planning permission to restrict further extensions or alterations that would normally not require planning permission, such as:
Rights to extend buildings
Rights to erect outbuildings & garages
Rights to erect fences or walls
Rights to future use or development
You should therefore check the terms of any planning permission that applies to the land you are interested in.
