Death registration

All deaths that occur in the London Borough of Hounslow have to be registered at Hounslow Register Office within 5 days.

Only qualified informants can register a death, i.e.:

  • A relative of the deceased

  • A person present at the death

  • The person arranging the funeral

  • The occupier of the home or hospital

You may want to bring a birth certificate, marriage Certificate if relevant, and medical card of the deceased to ensure the correct information is given.

After registering we will in most cases issue you with the paper work needed for the funeral director this will enable the funeral to take place. We will also issue a BD8 form for the DSS.

Certificates can be purchased at the time of registering (the current price is £3.50 each.)

Appointments are available for:

  • Registration of a Stillbirth

  • Re-Registrations and Copy Certificates

  • Birth and Death Declarations

  • Death registrations after a Post Mortem

We are unable at this time to offer a Civil Funeral service. Any historical death certificate enquiries should be directed to the enquiry line below.

Burial registers

For those seeking burial registers for persons buried in the borough's cemeteries, please contact Parks and Cemeteries on 0845 456 2796. The register office does not provide such information.
