Our aim is to create more housing in Hounslow that you can afford and to make sure that it is the right type of housing to meet the needs of Hounslow residents.
We are working with a range of housing organisations to make sure that new homes continue to be built for people living or working in Hounslow on moderate incomes, unable to buy a property on the open market.
What low cost home ownership options are currently available?
The London Borough of Hounslow are working in partnership with Housing Options. Housing Options is the gateway for all affordable housing in London and is the ‘one stop shop’ for all East, North, and West London boroughs. It allows council tenants, keyworkers and first-time buyers on a moderate income to get more information on further opportunities to own a home of their own. Housing Options provides a one-stop shop for anyone interested in buying their own home in Hounslow.
There are a number of new build schemes available to help people who are on moderate incomes make that first step onto the property ladder. The term ‘keyworker’ means people in areas of employment that are recognised to have difficulty buying a home. Individual local authorities set the definitions of who are keyworkers. In Hounslow, a ‘keyworker’ means anyone who lives or works in the borough on a moderate income, which is anyone on a household income of less than approximately £60,000.
See the Current Affordable Housing Schemes link for details of available options.
