On average you would need to cycle for 21,000 years before you suffered an accident.
As the number of cyclists on the road increases the number of accidents actually decreases. So, the more cyclists we get on the road, the safer cycling becomes for everyone.
Recent surveys suggest that half of our primary age children would like to cycle to school, so that’s potentially 8,000 new cyclists. This would be a huge change in the character of the streets around our schools with fewer cars and more cyclists, and therefore less pollution and healthier children.
Our popular Urban Pedal Pro cycle training program for children in years 5 and 6 gives them all the knowledge and skills they need to cycle safely on most roads from home to school. For more information ask your school, visit www.urbanpedalpros.org.uk or contact the Cycle Training Coordinator on 020 8583 5039.
