Obstructing a dropped kerb

How to stop people parking outside a dropped kerb

Parking across a dropped kerb is classed as obstruction and we are responsible for enforcing against vehicles that obstruct them.

We actively enforce against obstructing dropped kerbs.

Vehicles parked adjacent to a dropped kerb may be ticketed and possibly removed without notice. Only vehicles that are either straddling the dropped kerb or have a wheel adjacent to the dropped kerb can be enforced.

Off-street dropped kerbs generally serve either a single property or more than one.

Alternatively, the police can take action by either finding the vehicle owner and getting the vehicle moved or moving it themselves.

White bar marking

If the problem occurs on a regular basis we can provide a white bar marking - a solid white line painted on the road by your dropped kerb.

These markings are only advisory and are not enforceable by the police or ourselves.

If you are interested in applying for a white bar marking please read the frequently asked questions and complete an online application form, available on the right.
